Thank you to all of you who took the time to respond to my note. This is a difficult and emotional issue for all Telugu people and the passion is quite understandable. I obviously cannot answer every comment that is posted, but I will try to clarify my position on some of the specific questions that were raised.
First and foremost, a big thank you to all my fellow Telugus who support the cause for a United Andhra Pradesh.
If you would like me to respond to your comments, please keep them brief and specific to the issue. Here goes my response:
1) There was quite a bit of controversy around the data I published. I have cited sources for every single data point I presented in my book. Please note that all the sources I have used are publicly available in Andhra Pradesh. I spent two months in
2) There has been a lot of chatter about using percentages to show the relative growth of each region. I urge you all to read my commentary closely. I have mentioned multiple times that percentages in some cases can exaggerate the growth. In every one of those instances I provided normalized numbers.
3) The comment about why our state was named Andhra Pradesh and not Telangana or Telugu Pradesh. I provided the history behind our state’s name in my book. Also, lookout for my upcoming note on this exact topic.
4) I found a compelling argument made by one of the bloggers. His point was, if Kosta had 11 lakh hectares under canal irrigation before the united state came into existence, where did the Nagarjunasagar dam water went? Here are the canal irrigation numbers by decade. You will notice that the area under irrigation goes up starting 1971, which is attributable to Nagarjunasagar. The fluctuations in the canal irrigation area, I have to presume, are related to the amount of rainfall received in each of those years. I will leave rest of the data interpretation up to the blogger:

5) There were questions about 6-point formula, Gentlemen’s agreement and other topics. I have delved into all of those in my book.
6) Then there was a point made about 1700 TMC going waste into ocean- not sure if the blogger was referring to Krishna or
I do not know the exact quantity of Krishna TMC going into the ocean. I am willing to accept your number for the sake of this discussion. However, remember that these are flood waters and are not a reliable source. 800 TMC is what Bachawat determined as available to us with 75% dependability. Building large scale projects to tap waters that may come once in five years may not be the most prudent approach. I reiterate my point that tank irrigation is the best source for districts that are at a higher altitude.
7) Another comment was made about my analysis on election results in Chapter 20 of my book. The blogger presents a compelling argument that almost all political parties supported the Telangana state during the elections. My point is that when the by-election was presented by TRS as those that are for separation versus those that are not, TRS lost miserably. If separation of the state was high on people’s agenda, TRS should have swept the last two elections. Saying that, I see the bloggers line of reasoning and hence I said clearly in my book, “the case for a separate Telangana state is not clear cut.”
'8) Then comments about cultural differences between regions. These are somewhat subjective. I will leave it up to the readers to make up their minds. I come from a school of thought that there are many common cultural aspects that have bound Telugus together for over 2000 years, as opposed to the differences created in the last 100-200 years- thanks to the British, French, and Islamic invaders.

On Point 6 of your response, i would request you to go thru the link which i provided wherein there is the article of Prof.Kodandram.
On Point 7, i feel you are dithering. people have not voted for TRS since at that time they thought that they were on a deviating path. However, i am not satisfied with your answer to my precise point. i will reiterate again – in 2009 general elections, the only party which went to elections on a united AP plank was CPM and they got one seat. All other parties had Telangana in their manifesto. Infact, i had a chance to discuss this with one office bearer of congress party and he openly said that Telangana is a commitment of congress party since they dont want to give BJP the credit !!! TRS got 10. Now, please tell me in common sense terms what does this indicate?

I am from karimanagar(Korutla) never supported separate state demand. I have to really really appreciate Mr Chakravarthy Nalamotu for his research which i can see as a significant step in the history of telugu people to keep them united.
Reg point 7, i would like to remind the above blogger sirish that, in 2008 june by-elections, TRS party could not keep its own seats. That election specifically aimed at proving the peoples demand for telangana.
Also i would like to remind that in 2004 elections TRS could win less than 50% of the seats it got alloted and less than 1/4th of total constituencies in telangana.
And everybody knows the election results of 2009. Mere common sense shows that separate state demand exists may be among 15% of people(This number is my speculation) of telangana, that too because of false information provided by TRS intellectuals.
I would sincerely contribute in enlightening the telangana telugu people about the book(I like to call as a fact sheet) written by Mr Nalamotu, which i feel is the first thing every telugu person has to do in the next 6 months.

Lets be clear on one point. TRS does not have a patent on separate Telangana. This party has just tried to be a medium, thats it. No more beyond that. I have taken up the name of TRS and CPM to show only as an example. you would notice now every party has taken clear stand on Telangana.
Lets come to our election process itself. In the "first past the post" system, we have people who got 20% of the votes ruling us !! It is because of the split in the votes polled against one guy. Telangana people are wary of political parties and they show the parties their place every now and then. All political parties including Congress and TDP understood this. Only in Telangana you dont find voting based on caste lines, this is true. It is clearly divided based on either your aspiration or apprehensions, which decides which way your vote goes.
Having said that, it should be also understood that Telangana movement now has gone out of the hands of politicians. for the first time you are seeing the politicians scared of people in their constituencies. this has not happened earlier. you cannot call all those people in smaller towns and villages as fools and selfish just because they want Telangana state.
And there is a three fold quesiton from my side. If separate Telangana is being asked, why cant all those people opposing it list out their conerns / objections. just an emotional speech that we are all telugu, we have same language etc does not hold water. let it be very objective. list down concerns and if they are addressed to satisfaction, then is separate Telangana ok? I would expect a precise answer to this.
Secondly, if somebody wants to separate, he must have some reasons to do that. how can he be forced to live together? Joint family has given way to nuclear family. are all nuclear families failing? naturally, there will be aberrations, but you cannot generalise that all small families are failing. Unless somebody has a selfish motive, why should any one force somebody else to stay together, who deeply desires to have a separate life?
Thirdly, i have heard comments that united AP can be stronger with 42 MPs at centre and bifurcating state will weaken the strength. in the last 10 years, what did this "united MP strength" do for the benefit of state which other states could not get?
i would always welcome a healthy debate. i believe in the principle of amicable separation, rather than an apprehensive union.

People are not allowed to speak, they will tell you are Telangana drohi and attack them, that is what is happenning now. even if 5% of people come to roads and block roads and rail, our roads will be blocked and our media will make it a big issue. Let them allow samayakiandhra rally in Hyd, we will see how many people will show on HYD and don't allow people from kosta or raylaseema, allow people only my telangana and greater hyd region
I disagree with the comment that 42 mps have no weight in parliament. Look at what tamilnadu is able to do. If you want to use what our 42 MPs have done as an example, then tell me what 17 of those MPs will do in future? We had good chance of converting both polavaram and pranhit-chevella projects as national projects because of our numbers. Guess what? Under separate state, it is likely that separate Andhra gets polavaram as national project, can Telangana MPs get pranhita-chevella project?
Not only Telangana movement but even united AP movement from andhra also has gone out of hands of politicians. After all this is democracy. We can't take the rights one people to satisfy the demands of other people. Even if separation happens, I tend to think that Telangana will lose a lot in the bargain. I don't know whose benefit such separation would be?
I am from andhra region,i never supported separaate telangana,but after all these agitations ,i think it is better to divide,this is the reason i feel " i am afraid tat all the politicians even from andhra and telangana concentrate only on telangana devleopment if we were united,as agitation coming from telangana".
