A Battle is Lost – Not the War

Millions of Telugu people in Andhra Pradesh and across the globe are in a great deal of anguish tonight. Congress Party and the UPA have officially announced that they would like to divide the great state of Andhra Pradesh for their myopic political gains. Congress Party in one master stroke checkmated TRS, TDP, and the BJP. Sadly crores of Telugu people have become victims to this vicious poitical one upmanship.

Our state came into existence in 1956 after half a century of struggles and sacrifices of our forefathers hailing from all three regions of the state. Today that state is at the risk of being shattered to pieces. After Satavahanas, Telugu country was resurrected by the Kakatiyas after a century long struggle. Today, we yet again risk losing everything we fought for. We cannot let this atrocity happen.

Unlike the December 9th 2009 announcement by the central government and the subsequent retraction on December 23rd, this time a similar course of action will not work. Congress Party was shell-shocked by the mass uprising in December 2009. However, they are better prepared this time.

So, how can we stop this?

First and foremost Integrationist MPs and MLAs should NOT resign. There are two important battles coming up- one in the state assembly and the other in parliament. Resignation of our representatives is simply suicidal to our cause.

CM and ministers should NOT resign. Integrationist MLAs should rally across the party lines to keep the current administration in power. Kiran Kumar Reddy is a staunch integrationist. He should be in power and defy Congress Party diktats that come from Delhi. If integrationists across parties covertly support the current government, keeping Kiran in power is a piece of cake.

Lastly and most importantly, the responsibility of stopping the division squarely rests on people’s shoulders. Integrationist movement is suffering from a leadership void. We need an organization that will be at the forefront of the movement. This platform should have representatives from Congress, TDP, YSRCP, Students, Farmers, and Government employees.

The division can be stopped if people agitate, but they must agitate peacefully. A violent agitation is unsustainable and will be quickly quelled by force. We can learn a lesson or two from Mahatma Gandhi. You want a bandh? Convince people to voluntarily shut their businesses in solidarity. Yes, this method is harder than threatening the business owner with a stick. But the former method is the only way a sustainable movement can be built.

Want a rail-roko? Do not sit on the tracks and get arrested. Convince the engine drivers to call in sick or urge the passengers to postpone their travel. This is far more impactful than forcing the trains to stop.

Need financial help to conduct activities? Do not turn fund collection into a chandha-dandha. Go to donors and show them your plan of action and convince them to donate.

Building a movement like this is difficult? Yes, of course. But Gandhiji has shown us the way. He has done it and it is imperative that we walk in the path he has shown us.

The only way state division can be stopped, is via a peaceful people’s agitation that paralyzes the entire state’s economy. Add to this a sympathetic state government that defies Delhi’s diktats. We must adopt civil disobedience and political disobedience.

If we stop this atrocity in Andhra Pradesh, the nation will be grateful to us. Delhi sultans will learn a lesson and never again wreak this kind of havoc on other states in the Indian republic.

Today is a sad for us who want to see AP as it existed for more than 50 years. The Congress party treated the people of AP like doormat and rushed thru with this, only for political advantage. It is now clear they would stoop to any depths to stay in power. I want to see the state united but I have very little hope that the course would change at this stage. They have enough numbers in Parliament and could very well ignore resolution in Assembly.

A whole population can be wrong, but cannot be bad. But the Telangana leaders proved opposite by successfully portraying people from rest of AP as looters, occupiers and living off other peoples resources. They successfully made villains of a few ultra rich Andhra politicians to represent the entire spectrum of people from all walks of life who came to their capital Hyd for finding jobs or to expand their small business etc. They said there were some discrepencies in Govt jobs which is less important today, and now seemandhra people are deprived of jobs and revenue from private industry concentrated in Hyd. The mistake of us unitists is that we kept silent for a very long time and woke up when it started to bite us. When all the political parties played double game for the last 10 years, we did not question. We did not engage in a debate then and that is hurting now. It is very sad to see it come to this!

Finally, I salute you for putting up this courageous fight for united Andhra, for taking so much time to research and publish facts in a book, for standing up to Telangana bullies and for explaining our case to more and more people.

Wondering who is the author? would request everyone of us to not get emotional…

"risk loosing everything we fought for" – Why is that you are getting this feeling? what are you going to loose? nothing….everything to gain from here. Nobody is taking HYD and running away…

  3. GK says:

Instead if you see possitively you have more to gain than T. As you already have full access to HYD and now there will new infra and development/industrial activity in SA.

  4. GK says:

We all should be looking forward and not backward…Satavahanas, Kakatiyas, Nizams or Shivaji are of the past… let's be real we can't go backward…world is getting smaller in distance and bigger in population..

This gives an opportunity to the people of both states to push their politicians to do more by getting to know the development in the other state. There will two sets of ministries to serve the same population…they can be made more accountable…

    • mohan says:

@GK, then how come, we had to look in future only, why was 'Historical difference and identity' . an important factor in cause for telangana state. Why did all Tsupporters banked on this point as one of strong point infavour of T. You should have also endorsed that point and never educated your fellow men on ingnoring History like you are teaching us now.

    • mohan says:

look who is  saying 'fogret past and look into future' . The historical identity(albeit pseudo) has always been bone contention in T movement. Please teach these late realizations to your fellow comrades (those T goons called kodandaram or KCr etc.,)

  5. Chandra says:

Actually Telangana separatists have become second time lucky. First, KCR never fasted for a separate state and they got an announcement for a seperate state. Before dec 9 hardly  anybody well educated people of Telangana exactly knew, how many districts together are called with this name. This is from my own personal experience . Since dec 9th  separatists claims have been continuously been rediculed by central govt appointed committees and cenrtral  media organizations, independent fact finding attempts about backwardness.

But second time again they got an announcement. Its not the credit of illogical separatsist  intellectuals or TRS. Its the blunders the congress party is doing  to corner TDP and Jagan that is resulting in statement after statement.  Well announcements are OK , they can please separatists, but the actions needs to be stopped. You can not make a mockery of 60 years of AP or before that 30 years of struggle for telugu unity. That is not acceptable.

    • GK says:

No, unlucky with Indira Gandhi as she had a lot of majority in parliament and did not want to go into the details of the problem why waste time when it is not going to hurt her right?

  6. Chandra says:

Ok.Eventhough its not that everything is over, We need to do certain things in step wise manner. dec 9 dec 23 techniques have already been used.

    1. First of all  as you exactly say NO RESIGNATIONS this time. They can not move an inch without AP assembly not accepting the division. It will be suicidal for UPA or congress party or bjp OR nda to make such a move if they ever want to entertain anythinmg in India.

They will not do anything against it especially U.Pradesh thing going on. Period.

    2. It takes atleast 6 months for the process if they seriously want to proceed with it. All central and state govt employyes in Hyd and AP should gradually increase the protests. Private firms should voluunterily call for  "display of displeasure" atleast a day in a week. It not a joke for them if they want to contniue their operations in future scenarios. So better they do it now.

    3. As you said Integrationisst all together should form a group and make neighbourhood state representatives and ministers vocally ask parliament to make moves according to assembly resolution. This is very important as it indictaes how strong the federal nature in the country is observed. Separatists will also be watching this……. because, what if  , tomorrow Hyderabadis and surrounding districts ask for separation from the proposed new state, without assembly approval.

    4. Justice Sri Krishna Committe said the execution of 5th option only if all regions agree. This needs to be highlghted.

    5. I wish TDP and jagan would push for giving value to AP assembly opinion before parliamnet takes any action on this and both of them should be pursuaded.

AS you said with great difficulty and struggle all telugu speaking regions came to unity. Division will increase hatred contrary to separatist rosy claims, which is not good for us. This is impractical in the long run.

  7. Kiran says:

Personally it was devastating to me. Delhi murdered a well functioning, relatively prosperous and a historical state of 85 millions for a few piffling political gains. Something even USA did not do to afghanistan or iraq. Its not a loss for telugu people but a crime against them. How can we now get justice? what should be our justice ? without justice there is no meaning to our lives as people..we are like cattle who graze here and there.

    • GK says:

Don't you think having more ministers is better to serve that big population now?

      • prabhakara rao says:

Just for info. There will ne no change in total number of ministers of two states. Ministry size is limited to 15% strength of the lower house. Means 18 (119) ministers for T and 26(175) for AP. I am not sure but these rules will be by-passed in some fashion to accomodate more dissenting leaders. This means more expenditure for the states.

    • GK says:

unlucky with indira gandhi as she had a lot of majority and did not want to take the pain to resolve the issue.

What will happen of the Andhra areas that were stolen by Naizam prantham people. I call it stolen because if they really wanted their prantham, they must truthfully gives these back without the other region asking of it. Instead they kept saying they will not give. This is the world's worst people. It looks more like a war between Pakistan and India, Pakistan claiming Kashmir which is not part of their country. Please do not delete this comment. I have written nothing wrong.

  10. @Chakravarthy: I believe you are a man of principles. This post reinforces these principles.

Sticking to values during adversity is a hallmark of a gentleman.

During the last few years, you have opposed several elements of the Telangana movement and related agitations. You targeted the agitators for bandhs, burning buses, arson rasta rokos, disrupting meetings, shutting down schools etc. Your associates ridiculed the bandhs for "exempting" movies & liquor stores. I presume you will judge the ongoing anti-Telangana agitations with the same yardstick. For instance, I assume you will fight for the Andhra region schools to stay open as vigorously as you did when the other side enforced closure.

As for me, I will continue to oppose state violence whether it is in Telangana or Andhra. I will fight  the chapter 8 tactics that will now be used against Andhras as vigorously as I did when Telanganas were targeted. If any Andhra leader is slapped with PD, I will object the same way I did when Dr. Cheruku Sudhakar was targeted.

Watch this space. As Parakala Prabhakar said: "Enjoy this circus until they dish out another one"

    • Chandra says:

Jai G…..Bandhs called by integrationists are response to the actions initiated by separatists. They are mere reflections of what you shine. Till now all of us requested separatists not to shine. Experts in India have not found any reason for you to shine also. Separatists have direct control over bandhs in both T and SA. You can stop bandhs in seemandhra. You are the master. You still have a chance. Decision is yours! :)

  11. @Chandra:

"They can not move an inch without AP assembly not accepting the division"

Digvijay Singh specifically mentioned the approval of the assembly is not required.

"Private firms should voluunterily call for  "display of displeasure" atleast a day in a week."

Sure, go ahead. Remember others can call "display of celebrations" too.

  12. prabhakara rao says:

Purpose of Telugu unity is lost. I do not see any reason for people of SA agitating. They cannot stop division. In fact it is better division goes ahead. We all Telugus gave mandate for our destruction. Celebrating Telanganas maybe surprised by our where I intend to include them also as Telugus. They will, if at all, can understand this after 20 years. Only example I would like to put forward is Tamilnadu. A movement that started against upper caste did not end with empowerment of oppressed casts. Incidents of Dharmapuri in 2013 remind us the fact that thought of hate does not stop at one stage. Rather continues to finer divisions.

The political game is very clear. Polavaram is a big boon for Godavari districts. The three district above have less affinity to Hyderabad. They may plunge on emotional factors but soon they will retreat owing to lack of support from political masters. The classes supporting Jagan cannot take any action until he comes out. Kamma caste in Krishan Guntur is divided across political lines. They will not come together for any cause. In fact they would like encash on new capital. That leaves Greater Rayalseema permanent RALLASEEMA.

Recollect TPS betrayal. Now it is turn of Andhra. Seema in particular.

Instead of agitating, I would recommend a poste-mortem on how the level 2 leadership was destroyed in the state by CBN, YSR and evetually Sonia. Though not new we should also reflect on how good is democracy in a country where votes can be bought through legal channels called WELFARESCHEMES.

fully agree that change is inevitable. I would like to add betrayal is always unexpected.

Political leaders continued to mislead and failed to prepare the people for division.

Many individuals voiced opposition to the stand of political parties. But it was not heard.

Yes Politics is bigger platform. Unfortunately it is the only paltform to solve your problems. Even petty problems. Citizens are already divided across political lines, except for formal membership.

Technically, they all agreed because they thought it is a bluff and they would be left behind. I am sure it was the biggest shock of his life to Chandrababu Naidu.

  15. AMRAO says:

The biggest joke of all the assurances given by CWC:

Hyderabad will be a common capital for 10 years – It means 4 buildings will be given to the new AP govt on rental basis for 10 years. If I am wrong about this, can any one else explain this please?

See Digvijay Singh clarification today in Nagpur.

All the stuff offerred by the CWC is pure lip service with no concrete steps. They will remain assurances at best. Once the division happens, the people of  the new state will just have to keep begging.

    1) They say Polavaram will be declared as a national project. But will it be constructed? Once the division happens, the central govt can find thousand reasons to delay it by a thousand years. The first reason they can show is the opposition from Telangana itself.

Besides, with the current accout deficit going through the roof and the growth rate coming down below 5% and a commitment to food bill, direct money transfer, a MOBILE FOR EVERY MNREGA worker (just announced), where does the central govt get money to fund it?

    2) The safety of people of Seema Andhra living in Hyderabad will be assured – Do they plan to provide a gun man for every family? If my neighbour creates trouble by playing loud music all night long (like they did last night), who is going to come to my rescue? If my neighbour starts parking his car in front of my house on a permanent basis, who is going to come to my rescue?

    3) Financial package will be provided to the backward regions – I guess I need not explain. If the Central Govt could do that, what stopped them from doing it in the so called backward areas of Telangana in the last 60 years?

    4) Who will pay for the new capital? What does new capital mean? As far as I understand, the new capital consists of i) a building for Legislative Assembly ii) a building for Legislative Council iii)  A secretariat building which can accomodate 1000 to 2000 people.

    I could be wrong.

The new capital, paid by the central govt, could consist of 1) a GMR international airport 2) Raheja Mindspace 3) Cybertowers 4) offices of Microsoft, Oracle, Google, Accenture, IBM, Amazon, 5) a stadium with international standards 6) Shilpa kalaramam 7) Hi-Tex 8) lots of tourist spots that can attract tourism money.

Recently I was going through a book on the life Jinnah, who took away our Indian land in the name of Muslim rights. After the creation of Pakistan, he was never a happy man. To preserve his political career, this ego centric man created another nation, resulted a loss of so many innocent people. Same has repeated in Andhra Pradesh in the form of KCR. He did a lot of damage to Telenagana people so to so entire telugu people to satisfy his political ambitions. He will face the music of his Karma.

30th July, 2013 will be the last happiest day in KCR'S life. From now onwards he will be hunted by his own people, whom he promised heaven after the creation of separate state. He promised the old students of Osmania University (most of them are 35-40 years), lakhs of jobs. He promised, a peon will be an officer in a new state. The expectations are high. Very soon, may be in couple of years, local people will realize their mistake but then it will be too late.

Destiny sometimes plays cruel games. Losers will be the winners and winners will be the losers. Telengana people will be the biggest losers in the long run up. Wait and see.

    • mohan says:

  19. @AMRAO: Please see Naya Raipur Development Authority site on how to go about building a new capital.

Microsoft, Google etc. can be enticed anywhere. Please see extract of Chakravarthy's conversation with Duggal on June-15-2010 below.

"On our argument about Nizam region’s economy will suffer in the event of division-

Mr. Duggal: The new Chief Minister of a Telangana State won’t be a fool. Do you really think he will drive Andhra investors away to the detriment of Telangana State’s economy?

APNRI: Neither is the new Chief Minister of Andhra going to be a fool. The first day he comes into office he will announce incentives of free power, free land, and a tax free regime for businesses that move to Andhra. He will further lobby investors from Andhra to leave Telangana by arguing that they have been mistreated, attacked, and have been accused of being looters. As a result, Nizam region’s economy will suffer."

  20. The circus goes on, see http://www.business-standard.com/article/news-ians/rayalaseema-leaders-demand-capital-of-rayala-andhra-113073100374_1.html

Congress leaders from Rayalaseema want due share in river waters and capital of 'Rayala Andhra' in their region.

The ministers and state legislators from the region met here Wednesday and resolved that they will be part of 'Rayala Andhra' only if their region is given due share in Krishna river waters and the capital is built in their region.

I am not sure who quoted these numbers. I only referred Chakravarthy's comment to SKC that division will hurt Telangana more than Andhra. If you believe otherwise, you should ask him, not me.

I don't know why every state needs to have a "great" capital city. Compared to the shamianas of Kurnool, Naya Raipur should be great. Also don't forget Sribagh pact.

Jai, Dont be so surprised if T vaadis become the clowns in the circus at the end of it, as Congress is going to put a tighter knot on hyderabad, defeating the very purpose of T movement.

And by the way, I am delighted to know that you are coming up with a series of posts on telangana river water and irrigation. These days I am badly missing the great art of fiction by the late Professor.

    • Chandra says:

Satya, You are just spot on brother, as usually.

Separatists are under estimating the consequences. The moment other side realizes that what ever they built over decades with lot of ,sacrifice and mental energy is being snatched away, they wont keep quite. The other side also has good number of "fools".

They will also forget about telugu unity blah blah bla…. There will be a bitter fight for Hyderabad and the trasfer of assets and work force will be really really ugly. They will 100% make sure that the very hidden purpose of Telangana separatism will be thoroughly defeated. Thats not at all good for long term Telugu unity  in India or abroad.

UPA is completely miscalculating this. This MUST NOT HAPPEN Period.

  30. GK says:

In the future, Chakravarthy can compare his numbers with the two states.

  31. GK says:

Folks, no matter who says what HYD is for all, because it is within T it is giving you heart burn. The division is a compulsive requirement for political and administrative empowerment of T resources and people. But it should not diminish any prospects of SA in any way. SA politicians have tremendous resources and experience, rest assured you are in good hands. Unlike in the past – Chennai got their new secretariat (huge and modern) in two years.

  32. GK says:

There is an article in TOI about the revival of T culture as the biggest gain from the separation.

  33. Ved says:

GK says " In the future, Chakravarthy can compare his numbers with the two states."

He may have to painstakingly do that because 25 years from now, when all the fruits of the combined AP are exahused, you guys will come back and start a movement claiming that Telanagna was separated from Andhra Pradesh illegally by andhrites, although the majority of the assembly opposed it, and in the process deliberately left the useless plateu for T while A  enjoyed the delta area in the plains.

I guess this time Chakarvarthy garu will keep all the history, including digital video so that he doesnt need go through all the paper documents.

    • AMRAO says:

      @Ved,

What you said is more hope than reality. The world economy has moved away from agri based to services based. The service sector in SA is almost nil.

Just like T leaders enjoyed all the benefits fooling the T people and blaming SA people, SA leaders will also do the same, enjoy the benefits of separation, contracts and then blame the T leaders and separation for their failures.

Also, with Rayala Seema state and T state controlling the projects, Andhra will not get an inch of water but only floods and rains which will go waste into the sea.

Yes, if Polavaram is constructed within the next 10 years, at least 4 districts should be ok.

      • GK says:

Ved, short term you may be right but not in the long run…

AMRAO, I suggest you to be optimistic, and give some time, the next generations will have brighter future. SA future generations will be able choose the best of both states…

  34. raj kumar says:

Lets go with the slogan You and Me together we can stop . Save Andhra Pradesh. this is time for action.

Let the congress give clarity about having Andhra capital in Telangana. This is a big hole and is full of legal implications that is enough to stall the bifurcation. Let Hyderabad be a UT or ask the center to build a capital and them pass Telangana bill.

The concept of a state having its capital inside the territory of another state doesn't have a precedent and is a anomaly. Where is the protection if Telangana govt decides to raid the Andhra Secretariat in name of security and safety and access the sensitive information or raid the employee's homes at night . We have seen interstate conflict take a bad shape with Karnataka and Maharasthra and Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. What is the guarantee that in name of preventive arrests or law and order problem the Chief Minister and elected officials of AP are not denied entry in Telangana if there is a conflict say on border or water sharing issue? What would happen to children wards of the employees, where will they study what would be their status. Will they be allowed to study in Govt institutions . What about motor vehicle registrations and licenses ? Andhra elected official cars can be stopped and challaned for say pollution test or for no reason. If Andhra elected officials or employees want to go to Telangana Govt hospitals what is the guarantee that they will get good treatment? How will the nativity be determined? Who will be responsible for the property tax in Hyderabad ? How will the nativity be determined? How will the Govt of AP or Govt of Telangana determine who are natives if somebody is born in Hyderabad ?

  35. raj kumar says:

Everybody says that India is a free country and anybody can settle anywhere .If that is the case why Andhra students can't write KCET and get admission in Karnataka University or a Kerala student study is West Bengal Govt Medical college.Without some form of Domicle or nativity certificate no institution will even accept your application in India. Then why do the insane politicians blurt saying anybody can settle anywhere??

  36. AMRAO says:

The point I am making is, T has many birds already in it-s hands while the so-called birds of SA are far away in the bushes.

Suddenly, all  the backwardness and all the inequalities have vanished from the T state making it one of the RICHEST states. T state has now become the jewel of India with packed IT companies, pharma companies, many many PSUs, educational institutes – IIT, ISB, Central University, BITS, 400+ engineering colleges, several medical colleges, multi specialty hospitals, one of the best ranked airport, and great infrastructure.

ALL THIS FOR JUST 3.5 CRORES OF PEOPLE WITH AN AREA WHICH IS ACCESSIBLE WITHIN 6 HOURS FROM ANY WHERE WITHIN THE STATE .

Just read todays news papers. Every news paper talks about how industrialists are excited about new investments into T. No one said a word about the state of SA (states of Andhra and Rayala Seema) because there is nothing to be excited about these areas.

Of course, we will have to bear the - Dont worry. You will also be able to survive – kind of lip sympathy now.

  37. @Chakravarthy & AMRAO re common capital:

I guess we will have to wait for the draft bill. Digvijay's statement can be interpreted to mean anything between a NCR type arrangement to the 4 buildings that AMRAO mentioned.

This also goes for points like security, river waters, power etc.

  38. Chakravarthy, on a different note. Did you receive the mail I sent to you please? I would appreciate a brief email, thanks a lot.

  39. AMRAO, my attempts to respond to you have not been very unsuccessful. I will try again.

I empathize with the anguish in your comment. I wish this was articulated earlier and more often instead of getting submerged in 101 other issues.

Let us go back and see what the samaikyavadis told us the last few years. The specific reference is to the VMS book called Refuting an Agitation.

High revenues shown in Hyderabad are because of accounting reasons. A firm with Hyderabad HQ pays revenues on state wide sales in the city. The implication is clear: Hyderabad revenues will fall a good bit if the Andhra firms shift HQ to the Andhra capital.

Hyderabad's growth is only because it is the capital of a large & prosperous state

Public employment in Hyderabad will drop significantly after bifurcation and therefore Telangana unemployed will not benefit.

Regarding the future of post-bifurcation Telangana (page # 74):

"Division of the state would adversely impact this economic climate and alter the growth trajectory to the disadvantage of the region. A smaller government and potential loss of business to Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema would result in economic slowdown. This being the likely scenario, the separatists are painting a rosy economic picture when the reality is starkly different"

Irrigation in Telangana requires lot of power that is easier in united state

The admirable goal of bringing 1 crore acres in Telangana under irrigation is possible in a united state.

In his submission to SKC, Chakravarthy says Telangana is unlikely to receive any more water other than previous tribunal. In his meeting with Duggal, he says some or many of industries will flee to Andhra.

Ajay Sahni says Maoists will rule the roost in Telangana. Owaisi says there will be communal violence due to BJP's rise. Yet others warn of dorala rajyam. Several people predict violence against Andhras living in Hyderabad.

What is the net sum of all these?

Hyderabad revenues will start reflecting the correct (lower) levels. This will reduce further as Andhra attracts existing businessmen.

The combined effect of Maoism, feudalism, communal violence & Andhra security concerns will scare away many existing firms & potential investors.

Because there is not enough water or power, agriculture will sink. Because there are no new Govt. jobs, youth will get restless & violent. This vicious circle of joblessness/agrarian problems feeding Maoism/communalism impacting joblessness etc. can continue ad infinitum as the rulers will resort to kleptocracy.

Telangana, in other words, will go to dogs and become another Somalia. The reality is stark.

Did you seriously believe this Cassandra model? If yes, you should be relieved Andhra will be spared this catastrophic events. If not, you should have pointed your real concerns and asked your leaders to fight on those grounds. Claiming to be motivated by Telangana's future problems did not work. There is nothing wrong in defending one's interests.

    • AMRAO says:

      @Jai,

Great work! To pick and choose words from different contexts and re-arrange them to avoid direct answers.

      Jai
High revenues shown in Hyderabad are because of accounting reasons. A firm with Hyderabad HQ pays revenues on state wide sales in the city. The implication is clear: Hyderabad revenues will fall a good bit if the Andhra firms shift HQ to the Andhra capital.
      AMRAO
      1) This point was in response to the claim that Telangana areas are in fact contributing largely to the revenues but they are not being spent in Telangana. In other words, the hard earned money of Telanganites is being diverted to the other two areas.
      2) If and When Andhra capital is built, if and when all the IT companies, Pharma companies, PSUs, educational institutes, infrastrucure move to the SA capital, yes. UNTIL then the annual budget of the so called backward Telangana will be twice that of SA.

      JAI
Hyderabad-s growth is only because it is the capital of a large & prosperous state
      AMRAO
Absolutely. If Kurnool was the capital of AP state instead of Hyderabad, all the Pharma companies in Hyderbad which are owned by only Seema Andhra people would have been located there. Infotech would have been located there. Even the PSUs would have been there. GMR airport would have been there.

      JAI
Public employment in Hyderabad will drop significantly after bifurcation and therefore Telangana unemployed will not benefit.
      AMRAO
Naturally. The fact of the matter is, every investment by the central govt and even institutes like ISB were cheered by every one in the current AP as they felt it is their own. Now, every investment by the central govt will be questioned and fought to be invested in their own area. The investments by the central govt in Telangana areas is huge and minimal in the other areas. This fight will result in lower employment for Telangana. AS SUCH THE CENTRAL GOVT IS IN THE PROCESS OF QUITTING FROM INDUSTRIES INCLUDING DEFENCE.

      JAI
In his submission to SKC, Chakravarthy says Telangana is unlikely to receive any more water other than previous tribunal. In his meeting with Duggal, he says some or many of industries will flee to Andhra.
      AMRAO
The fight for water will only get worse. AP as a single unit was fighting with Karnataka and Maharashtra. Telangana will fight with Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rayala Seema and Andhra. and vice versa too.

      JAI
Ajay Sahni says Maoists will rule the roost in Telangana. Owaisi says there will be communal violence due to BJP-s rise. Yet others warn of dorala rajyam. Several people predict violence against Andhras living in Hyderabad.
      AMRAO
Those who are saying we will welcome investors, said Dr. Reddy of Reddy Labs is a looter. Those who are saying we are brothers, said your food is shit like.

Those who are saying we will protect you, said andhrawale bhaago.

It is a fact that Maoists ruled the Telangana areas for a long time with an iron fist. It was the CMs from Andhra who pushed them to Chattisgarh.
IT is a fact that until NTR came to power, there were communal riots every year in Hyderabad.
It is a fact that with lower communal riots, BJP lost its charm. They can only get back to their glory by raising apprehensions between communities.

Businessmen from Andhra will have no choice but to remain here paying hafta to TRS goons until they can get this level of resources and infrastructure back home.

If IT and Pharma were encouraged to be setup in SA instead of solely in Telangana, things would have been different. The fault lies in Chandrababu Naidu and YSR. They were blind and selfish.

Telangana will never become a Somalia. The fear is Andhra and Rayala Seema may become Somalia.

To put it in you derogatory words,
Telangana saw settlers until now from SA areas – those who brought money, ideas, hard work, investments.
Telangana will see refugees from now – those with no jobs, no income and no future from SA areas!!!

      • prabhakara rao says:

        AMRAO,

I appreciate your patience in responding to JaiGo.

Besides other points. I would pray that Telangana government does not think on the lines of JaiGo. He and many others like T. Prakash cannot differentiate DONE and HAPPENED and vice versa NOT HAPPENED and NOT DONE.

  40. GK says:

Unlike T, the future generations of SA will have the advantage to choose the best of both states…

  41. Sunil says:

    Chakravarthy Garu,

Could you post the link on this website so that people can start petitioning the PM of India to reverse the decision of splitting AP.

    http://pmindia.nic.in/feedback.php

  42. GK says:

If you can, I request VA group to calm the people of SA as this time the center seem to be firmed up the decision to grant statehood for T. JP came out without thinking twice and conveyed his message to all people. Similarly if you and more people or groups talk, it might help. Otherwise Jagan party people will exploit the situation which will force other party workers to respond for upper hand…

    • prabhakara rao says:

      GK,

you are right! The agitation may not yield much to SA people. But need of the hour is not calming down but creating a confidence that they are not losing. I am not talking of SAs in Hyderabad. But those on streets in SA region. I said already that congress leaders from SA are in the know of the decision but they failed to PREPARE those regions for division.

First thing that should banned is debates on TV channels. They are adding huge confusion and abetting war of words.

I spoke to many friends in Vizag, Vijayawada and Guntur. Hardly any politician was really bothered about division. In fact they are looking for opportunities to make money.

      Lagadapatis Lanco got a project

      http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2013-07-31/news/40915710_1_lanco-infratech-washery-coal-extraction

Undavalli is not really a samaikhyavaadi. Botcha will be AP CM for remaining term. Also he is KCR of Vijayanagaram.

Kavuri, Rayapti may not even contest again. YSRC dominating Godavari districts and even Visakha. That may affect chances of Purandeswari, Pallamraju.

Students in general and farmers in Krishna delta are the ones very anxious about future . Now that state has no say in proceedings it is the center that should take responsibility of assuring them.

But no such thing is happening. On contrary both Diggy and Shinde are talking in somewhat belittling manner which compounding the frustration of even congress leaders.

Above all T leaders are still using provicative vocabulary.

      • "Hardly any politician was really bothered about division. In fact they are looking for opportunities to make money"

I am not surprised. Maybe you should start thinking that their previous interest in samaikyandhra was also because they wanted to protect kabzas & ill-gotten wealth?

The politicians only understand the language of votes. The panchayat election third phase was a golden opportunity. I understand the vote % was > 70 in most districts. Boycotting the polls would have sent a better message than rastarokos, vandalism, bus burning, attacking Gandhi statues etc.

If the Avanigadda nominations are still open, that is a great chance. Pick a non-political leader, preferably a freedom fighter, and fight on a single-point agenda.

  43. GK says:

It is a very a great opportunity for Chakravarthy to appeal for all people including T & SA and project VA as an umbrella for both states…

    • Chandra says:

GK, your umbrella intention is good. But the other side is not getting a new state. THEIR OWN STATE IS BEING DIVIDED FOR NO REASON. They did not ask for a separate state. So You thought  they will celebrate for having gotten a state? and congratulate you also.  Can you tell me What the mistake they did?

      • GK says:

I understand if HYD is on the other side their feelings would not have been so bad. Very understandable but the T people wanted to be separated but they don't seek any less for you. Yes, the burden of building new capital is there but at them same time HYD became a launching pad when you did have one. Now that the people, country and systems are more matured than 60 yrs ago, we should be confident of building one.

        • satya says:

There are rumors of Hyderabad becoming UT or joint capital. Hope your confidence on building another city will not diminish after these news become reality.

        • satya says:

GK, there can't be double standards while making a decision. Either one have to apply heart or mind. If the decision on telangana has taken on the basis of sentiment, then should be the decision on hyderabad. Mind you, ppl of seemandhra have no less attachment to hyderabad than those from telangana. Their sentiments should also be respected. So a free advice of preaching the other party to build a new capital is absurd and rubbing salt on the wound. If seemandhra is capable of building a capital, so is telangana. so, why can't you ppl give up the claim on hyderabad?

  44. AMRAO & prabhakara rao:

Please read your own leaders again. Many of these were forecasts, not rebuttals.

If what you say is correct, Chakravarthy should have said this to Duggal. He did not do so but focussed on the allegedly bleak future of Telangana.

    • AMRAO says:

Take out Hyderabad from the equation. The future of Telangana will be bleak!

    • prabhakara rao says:

      JaiGo,

you are on high with success. At the moment anything that we say sounds sour grapes.

Separatists had advantage of blaming Andhra rulers. But the richness of Telangan was always in Hyderabad only. Not just last 60 years but last 400 years.

I leave it to you to analyse why it is so. Of course only if you accept it is as fact.

Like in 3 idiots let us connect after 5 years and review who is correct.

  45. @satya:

I guess you did not read my blog post yet. Please do so and post your valuable comments. I will publish all comments that are relevant to the subject to the post and answer to the extent possible.

I started without any position on the subject. I subjected every source to rigoros examination. I did not discount any author or dismiss them as biased. I will provide all my sources and study any other verifiable source thay you believe I missed. I encourage my readers to judge the material presented instead of accepting my interpretation.

I specifically avoided all Telangana sources. This is a conscious decision. If I copy-paste or retype from TRS/JAC material, I would not need an year.

My blog series is not about Telangana formation. My views on Telangana are independant of this subject.

I tried to follow Demming's approach to the best extent of my ability. I am confidant you will agree to this after reading my posts through the next few months.

Hopefully you will also agree with some or all of my conclusions. To me, this is not as important as my real objective: learn from each other's competence & knowledge. I believe you are strong on the subject and look forward to your contribution to my quest for knowledge.

    • satya says:

oh.. I did read your blog, and it is some good preface you started with. Good to hear you are not in the footsteps of Jayasankar's. Hope the expectations u set with your introduction will be reached. Looking forward for your posts.

      • satya, thanks a lot. I hope to see your comments & questions on my blog. In the meantime, I am posting our conversation here on my blog.

No comments about the late Prof. K. Jayashankar. In any case, he is not around to defend himself.

  46. @AMRAO:

Did Chakravarthy take Hyderabad away from the equation? He did not.

    @prabhakara rao:

I never entered the so called development debate. I don't have the numbers to analyze nor did I ever attempt this. Having said this, I understand to a great extent what AMRAO is saying.

My main point is that these arguments should have been used in the last few years. This should have set the agenda better than the others that were actually used.

Babu speaks of 4-5 lac crores. The number looks way too high to me. Ignoring this for the moment, should this not have been raised in the letters they wrote & the all party meetings? This is just an example, I don't expect you to defend Babu's contention.

BTW I don't see this as success vs. failure or T vs. SA issue. We should look for ourselves, not compete against others.

  47. mohan says:

Finally, T demand is met but their  'boochi'(devil) called seemandhra will remain for good. The politician will continue to survice on this  in elections eternally, something similar to BJP's 'Muslim' boochi.

Every growing politician or loosing politician can scare people with this boochi and pretend to be thier saviour from this boochi.

"Look how seemandras are penetrating into our business"

"Look how seemandhra youngsters are grabbing the software/pharma jobs destined for our T youngster"

" look how labourer from seemandhra are going away with all casual jobs"

Suddenly some politician in Mehboob nagar can become hero by putting barridcades to waterflow to kurnool distirct( like kavitha did once before) and boast himself to be saviour of T.

These politicians will not alow the manifested hostility between two regions to die so fast. They will reap out of it and continue to invest in it.After all it is so easy to buy people in Demo(n)cracy.

The T channel is conitnuing to beam its hostility and it will do so in years to come and maintain this for its own revenues and viwership and so is 'Namaste Telangana' This similar to role that is played by RSS owned publications or other Islamic militant groups.

God save andhra from these scavengers

    • Chandra says:

Apparently this moron has not yet understood about 610GO violations and as with his dumb followers.

AFter UPA announcement T employees were suddenly under excited because they didnt like it if everything remains same as the main motivation for these incomeptent employees was promotions. You class idiots do you understand that Telanangana was not a single zone. So you will kick out all zone V employees also from Hyderabad or whats your plan? What about those violations. Speak out.

      • AMRAO says:

The so called zonal system, as far as I know, is unique to Andhra Pradesh (May be J&K). As soon as the states are divided, the zonal system will go away in both the states. However, there will be a new zonal system in the new AP state as Rayala Seema people will demand such a zonal system again.

        • Chandra says:

Only 80% of the zonal posts are local. remaining 20% have always been open. Moreover all the rectruitments in state level offices in Hyderabad have been open until 14f was amended. If some employees are going to be shifted to new state HQ's that will be random. Any of those employees rectruited under open will have to obey orders to leave.

There will be huge number of Telangana employyes (Meaning who say Angipkaya accd that moron) also have to leave Hyderabad. They are all AP employees. All these pseudo employee leaders Srinivas Goud, Devi prasad also have to leave if they have to if they are in state level cadre. There is no way to  check who says sorakaya and who says angipkaya and then ask them to leave.

UPA govt of India is making a historic blunder. This is not going to happen. Hyderabad and AP will be virtually paralyzed for 3 months before the bill is placed in the parliament (After assembly reslolution is made). Is this dictatorship or what?

          • prabhakara rao says:

For more than a month all national channels, renowned journalists, secular people in BJP and many more opposed Modi. For what? He was not even named BJP/NDA PM candidate yet he was opposed. They unanimously declared Modi is AUTOCRATIC and so not fit for PM.

Before CWC meeting Sonia conveyed to SA leaders that she took decision and there will ne no change. None of the inttellectuals in Delhi do not see it as autocracy.

        • The same story as reported in Hindu. http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/andhra-pradesh/coastal-districts-employees-have-to-go-back-kcr/article4983220.ece

          Some excerpts:

The staff from coastal districts and Telangana will work in their respective regions. The former will have no option but go back as the government had to function in Andhra also,

He recalled that he had never given a call for “jago-bhago” in the past, but only asked those from Andhra who earned jobs unjustly in Telangana to return.

  48. Chakravarthy, please delete this abusive comment by Nellutla Mahidhar, thanks.

  49. Kishore says:

    Chakravarthy Garu,

"The battle is lost – Not the War" Do you seriously think after such a big announcement UPA or CWC will go back on the thier decision to bifurcate AP, considering that main opposition party BJP is supporting. Not a chance. There is easily more than 2/3rd majority in both of houses of parliment on this issue. Telangana state will be formed in the next 6-8 months.

The main problem with United AP movement is that there is absolutely no political representation from Telangana region, hence it looses it's intent and purpose.

If you and your organization intent is to strive for betterment of telugu people, I request you to motivate the SA  people to fight for good deal during bifurcation, that interest of all people are taken into consideration.

Naievity has no marks. Please move on!
